§ 54.1-2936. Limited licenses to certain graduates of foreign medical schools.

A. After receiving a recommendation from the dean of an accredited medicalschool which was reached after consultation with the chairmen of thedepartments in the school or college and having become satisfied that theapplicant is a person of professorial rank whose knowledge and specialtraining will benefit the medical school or educational programs sponsored bythe medical school in affiliated hospitals, the Board may issue a limitedlicense to practice medicine in the hospitals and outpatient clinics of theschool or college or in a hospital formally affiliated with the medicalschool for purposes of undergraduate or postgraduate medical education to agraduate of a foreign medical school as long as he serves as a full-time oradjunct faculty member. This limited license shall be valid for a period ofnot more than one year, but may be renewed annually by the Board uponrecommendation of the dean of the medical school and continued service as afull-time or adjunct faculty member.

B. This limited license shall only authorize the holder to practicemedicine in the hospitals and outpatient clinics of the school while he is afull-time fellow. The license shall be valid for a period of not more thanone year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of the dean of the medicalschool and continuation of the fellowship. A limited license to a foreigngraduate engaged in a fellowship shall not be renewed more than twice.
