§ 6.2-2308. (Effective October 1, 2010) Certificate of notary public.

A. The notary public who placed a package in one of the general safes orboxes of the company as required under the provisions of § 6.2-2307 shall,upon doing so, file with the company a certificate, under seal, which shallset out the date of the opening of such box, the name of the lessee of thebox, and a list of the contents, if any. The certificate shall be sworn to bythe notary public and shall be prima facie evidence of the facts therein setforth in all legal proceedings wherein evidence of such facts would beadmissible.

B. The company shall mail a copy of such certificate within 10 days after itsfiling, to the lessee of the box at his last known post-office address, byregistered or certified mail, return receipt requested. The company shallinclude in its mailing of the copy of the certificate a notice that thecontents will be kept, at the expense of the lessee, in a general safe or boxin the vaults of the company for a period of not less than two years, unlesssooner removed by the lessee.
