§ 63.2-1224. Explanation of process, legal effects of adoption required.

Prior to the placement of a child for adoption, the licensed child-placingagency or local board having custody of the child shall provide anexplanation of the adoption process to the birth mother and, if reasonablyavailable, the man who is an acknowledged father pursuant to § 20-49.1, anadjudicated father pursuant to § 20-49.8, a presumed father pursuant to §63.2-1202, or a putative father who has registered with the Putative FatherRegistry pursuant to Article 7 (§ 63.2-1249 et seq.) of this chapter.
