§ 66-18. Examination and placing of such children.

The Department shall make a careful physical and mental examination of everychild committed to it by the courts, investigate the personal and familyhistory of the child and his environment, and place such children at suchfacilities as are available. Any children committed to the Department andafterwards found to be eligible for commitment by proper proceedings to anystate hospital or admission to a training center for the mentally retardedshall take precedence as to admission over all others and shall in all casesbe received into the state hospital or training center within forty-five days.
