§ 9.1-100. Department of Criminal Justice Services.

A. There is created a Department of Criminal Justice Services (the"Department") that shall be headed by a Director appointed by the Governor,subject to confirmation by the General Assembly. The Director shall serve atthe pleasure of the Governor.

B. The Director of the Department shall, under the direction and control ofthe Governor, exercise the powers and perform the duties conferred or imposedupon him by law and perform such other duties required by the Governor or theCriminal Justice Services Board.
