159.2 OBJECT OF DEPARTMENT.
The object of the department of agriculture and land stewardship
shall be:
1. To encourage, promote, and advance the interests of
agriculture, including horticulture, livestock industry, dairying,
cheese making, poultry raising, beekeeping, production of wool,
production of domesticated fur-bearing animals, and other kindred and
allied industries.
2. To encourage a relationship between people and the land that
recognizes land as a resource to be managed in a manner that avoids
irreparable harm.
3. To develop and implement policies that inspire public
confidence in the long-term future of agriculture as an economic
activity as well as a way of life.
4. To administer efficiently and impartially the inspection
service of the state as is now or may hereafter be placed under its
supervision.
