        218.42  WAGES OF RESIDENTS.
         If a resident performs services for the state at an institution
      listed in section 218.1, the administrator in control of the
      institution shall pay the resident a wage in accordance with federal
      wage and hour requirements.  However, the wage amount shall not
      exceed the amount of the prevailing wage paid in the state for a like
      service or its equivalent.
