        225.27  DISCHARGE -- TRANSFER.
         The state psychiatric hospital may, at any time, discharge any
      patient as recovered, as improved, or as not likely to be benefited
      by further treatment.  If the patient being so discharged was
      involuntarily hospitalized, the hospital shall notify the committing
      judge or court of the discharge as required by section 229.14 or
      section 229.16, whichever is applicable.  Upon receiving the
      notification, the court shall issue an order confirming the patient's
      discharge from the hospital or from care and custody, as the case may
      be, and shall terminate the proceedings pursuant to which the order
      was issued.  The court or judge shall, if necessary, appoint a person
      to accompany the discharged patient from the state psychiatric
      hospital to such place as the hospital or the court may designate, or
      authorize the hospital to appoint such attendant.
