        232.42  CONTINUANCES.
         1.  Continuances in juvenile delinquency proceedings may be
      granted by the court only for good cause shown on the record if the
      child is being held in detention.
         2.  Where the child requests a continuance of proceedings, the
      court, in an order granting the continuance, may suspend the time
      limitations imposed on the state by this division for a period of
      time not to exceed the length of the continuance.
         3.  Proceedings may be continued for up to one year upon the
      request of the county attorney and the child to permit the making of
      probation arrangements prior to the adjudicatory hearing.  If either
      the child or the county attorney requests that the adjudicatory
      hearing be held at any time during the period of the continuance, the
      court shall set the matter for hearing.
