18A:46-29.Ā  County special services school district;Ā  finding of need; hearing;Ā  establishment;Ā  name
The board of chosen freeholders of any county may establish a county specialĀ  services school district for the education and treatment of handicappedĀ  children, as such children are defined in N.J.S. 18A:46-1, upon its findingĀ  that the need for such county special services school district exists.Ā  BeforeĀ  making any finding as to the existence of such need, the board shall hold atĀ  least one public hearing thereon upon not less than 10 days notice of the timeĀ  and place thereof published in a newspaper of general circulation in theĀ  county.Ā  If the board of freeholders, by resolution, authorizes theĀ  establishment of such a school district for the county, schools shall beĀ  forthwith established and maintained in the county and shall be known as the "schools for special services in the county of "Ā  (here insert theĀ  name of the county in which the schools are located).
