23:5-7.Ā Minimum size of certain fish;Ā penalty
No person shall kill, sell, expose for sale or have in possession any blackĀ bass, Oswego bass or white bass measuring less than the number of inchesĀ prescribed by the respective provisions of the State Fish and Game Code, or, inĀ the absence of such provisions in said code, measuring less than nine inches inĀ length, or any strawberry or calico bass, or crappie measuring less than theĀ number of inches prescribed by the respective provisions of the State Fish andĀ Game Code, or, in the absence of such provisions in said code, measuring lessĀ than six inches in length, or any pike perch, pike or pickerel measuring lessĀ than the number of inches prescribed by the respective provisions of the StateĀ Fish and Game Code, or, in the absence of such provisions in said code,Ā measuring less than twelve inches in length, or any trout measuring less thanĀ the number of inches prescribed by the State Fish and Game Code, or, in theĀ absence of such provision in said code, measuring less than seven inches inĀ length, except for the purpose of stocking the waters of this State therewith,Ā and then only at the direction of the division or upon license first obtained from the division under penalty of twenty dollars ($20.00) for each fish so unlawfully killed, sold, exposed for sale or had in possession.Ā The esox fasciatus, commonly known as Long Island pickerel, varied and grass pike, is not included among the fish protected by this section.
