27:7-8.Ā  Existing contracts unaffected If at the time when it is proposed to take over a highway, a contract for work thereon shall have been awarded but the work thereunder not completed, theĀ  further operation of this chapter with respect to the highway or part thereofĀ  shall be suspended until the completion of the work.
