30:9-25.Ā Board of managers of maternity hospital;Ā duties and powers
When a county maternity hospital shall have been built and is ready for occupancy, the director of the board of chosen freeholders shall with the consent and approval of the board, appoint a board of managers consisting of 5 members, residents of the county, 1 shall be appointed for a term of 1 year, 1 for 2 years, 1 for 3 years, 1 for 4 years and 1 for 5 years and their successors shall be appointed for a term of 5 years.Ā A vacancy arising from any cause except expiration of term shall be filled by appointment in the same manner but for the unexpired term only.Ā The members shall serve without compensation.
The board of managers shall have the control and government of the hospitalĀ and the care and custody of the buildings;Ā it may appoint and remove atĀ pleasure a superintendent or warden, and such other officers and employees asĀ it may deem necessary, and fix their compensation with the approval of theĀ board of chosen freeholders, except that such employees who hold positions andĀ employments in the classified service of Civil Service shall be subject to theĀ provisions of subtitle 3 of Title 11 of the Revised Statutes;Ā it may adopt andĀ establish suitable by-laws with respect to the terms of admission, support andĀ discharge of patients and such rules and regulations as it shall deemĀ necessary.
