38A:11-5.Ā Value of lost or destroyed property chargeable to person at fault
Except as otherwise provided in this chapter the value of the property lost,Ā damaged or destroyed shall be charged against the person at fault. Such personĀ shall pay upon demand the value of such property to the Treasurer of the StateĀ of New Jersey or the Treasurer of the United States as may be determined by theĀ evidence furnished.
