40A:9-117.Ā Undersheriffs, chief clerks and other personnel; compensation The sheriff shall select and employ the necessary deputies, chief clerks andĀ other personnel.Ā The sheriff shall fix the compensation they shall receive inĀ accordance with the generally accepted county salary ranges and within theĀ confines of the sheriff's budget allocation set by the governing body.Ā TheĀ annual compensation of the undersheriff shall not exceed 90% of the annualĀ compensation of the sheriff.Ā The compensation of the personnel in the officeĀ of sheriff shall be paid at the same time and in the same manner as the countyĀ officers and employees are paid.Ā The limitations of the salaries set hereinĀ shall not be construed to restrict any of said employees from participating inĀ or benefiting from any cost of living bonus or longevity program provided forĀ or established in the county.
