40A:9-158.Ā Temporary leave of absence;Ā substitute
The governing body of any municipality may grant temporary leave of absence,Ā with pay, to any officer or employee receiving a fixed annual salary, wage orĀ compensation.Ā Such leaves of absence shall not exceed 3 months at any oneĀ time.
Where it is necessary to employ a substitute to perform the duties of such officer or employee during his absence, the amount of the compensation paid theĀ substitute shall be deducted from the salary, wage or compensation of suchĀ officer or employee.
