40A:9-89.Ā  Board of chosen freeholders to furnish accommodations and equipment for register of deeds and mortgages The board of chosen freeholders shall provide the register of deeds and mortgages with a suitable fireproof place separate and distinct from the officeĀ  of the county clerk, together with suitable furniture and equipment, all ofĀ  which shall be the property of the county.Ā  The board shall also provide saidĀ  register with the necessary books and stationery.Ā  The records and documents inĀ  the office of said register shall be open to the public at all reasonableĀ  hours.
