44:1-155.Ā Bond for maintenance from master or commander
When a ship or vessel shall arrive within a port, harbor or municipality within this state, having on board passengers or employees coming from any foreign port or place, or coming from a municipality within or without this state into a municipality within this state, the overseer of the poor of the municipality at which the ship or vessel shall arrive, may require of the master or commander of the ship or vessel, a bond with approved security to theĀ inhabitants of the municipality in the sum of and not exceeding two hundredĀ dollars conditioned for the maintenance and support of any passenger orĀ employee on board the ship or vessel who is sick, infirm or otherwise incapableĀ and a poor person within the meaning of this chapter, in the opinion of theĀ overseer.
