45:14A-2.Ā Definitions
(a) The termĀ "professional planner"Ā as used in this act shall mean a person who engages in the practice of professional planning as hereinafter defined.
(b) The termĀ "planner-in-training"Ā as used in this act shall mean a personĀ who is a potential candidate for license as a professional planner who is aĀ graduate in an approved planning curriculum of 4 years or more from a school orĀ college accredited by the board as of satisfactory standing;Ā or a person who,Ā in lieu of such graduation, has had 4 years or more of experience in planningĀ work of a character satisfactory to the board, and who, in addition, hasĀ successfully passed an examination in the fundamental planning subjects, asĀ defined elsewhere herein.
(c) The termĀ "practice of professional planning"Ā within the meaning and intent of this act shall mean the administration, advising, consultation or performance of professional work in the development of master plans in accordance with the provisions of chapters 27 and 55 of Title 40 of the RevisedĀ Statutes, as amended and supplemented;Ā and other professional planningĀ services related thereto intended primarily to guide governmental policy forĀ the assurance of the orderly and co-ordinated development of municipal, county,Ā regional, and metropolitan land areas, and the State or portions thereof.Ā TheĀ work of the professional planner shall not include or supersede any of theĀ duties of an attorney at law, a licensed professional engineer, land surveyorĀ or registered architect of the State of New Jersey.
(d) The termĀ "board"Ā as used in this act shall mean the State Board of Professional Planners.
(e) The termĀ "responsible charge of professional planning work"Ā as used inĀ this act shall mean such degree of competence and accountability gained by education and experience of a grade and character as is sufficient to qualify an individual to personally and independently engage in and be entrusted with the work involved in the practice of professional planning.
