52:27BB-27.Ā Uniform accounting systems
The board shall, after careful study and investigation of accounting requirements, prescribe uniform accounting systems for municipalities and counties, and may, from time to time, revise or amend such systems.Ā The board may classify municipalities and counties in accordance with different types of accounting requirements and may prescribe a suitable variation of the uniform system to apply to each class.Ā The use of the system when prescribed, shall beĀ mandatory in accordance with the regulations of the board.Ā This section shallĀ not be construed to prevent the director, with the consent of the board, fromĀ approving the continued use of a system used by county or municipality thatĀ meets the requirements of and is in substantial conformity with the uniformĀ system prescribed.
