9:6-8.18.Ā Bureau of children's services or division of youth and family services;Ā insuring safety of child;Ā investigation;Ā application for order placing child under protective custody
The Bureau of Children's Services or its successor, the Division of Youth and Family Services, shall upon receipt of such report, take action to insure the safety of the child under section 4 of P.L.1971, c. 437 (C. 9:6-8.11). TheĀ said report shall be deemed an oral complaint under section 12 of P.L.1951, c.Ā 138 (C. 30:4C-12), and the Bureau of Children's Services or its successor, theĀ Division of Youth and Family Services, shall investigate the circumstancesĀ under which the child was injured and may, after such investigation has beenĀ completed, apply for a court order placing the child under its care andĀ supervision, pursuant to section 12 of P.L.1951, c. 138 (C. 30:4C-12).
