49-5-5405. Term of employment, duties, and supplement of career level II assistant principals Exclusion of assistant principals from program Continuing validity of other certificates.

(a)  A career level II assistant principal shall work at least an eleven-month contract.

(b)  A career level II assistant principal employed as such by an LEA shall receive a four thousand dollar ($4,000) salary supplement from the state in addition to all other compensation to which the principal may be entitled.

(c)  A career level II assistant principal who is not recertified as a career level II assistant principal shall retain any other currently valid certificate held by the person at that time, including a career level I, II or III teacher certificate issued under parts 50-53, this part, and part 55 of this chapter.

(d)  Furthermore, the educator shall be eligible for extended employment opportunities otherwise available to teachers, pursuant to the approved local plan required by § 49-5-5209.
