9-1-117. Receipt or collection of personal checks by state, municipal or county officials.

An official or employee within state, county, or municipal government or any agency thereof, who is required or authorized to receive or collect personal checks or similar sight orders on behalf of such government, agency or office, shall not require or encourage the drawer of any such check or order to give or include as payee any personal name as opposed to the name of the state, county, or municipal government or the agency or office or the official's name and title. Such official or employee shall not require or encourage any such drawer to give or include as payee the name of any official, employee, or other person in such person's personal capacity. The provisions of this section shall not be construed or implemented to prohibit use of notification forms which were printed prior to May 8, 1996.
