1:6-15.Ā  Petition;Ā  publication of notice of intention
In any case in which an ordinance or resolution authorizing the filing of aĀ  petition with the Legislature for the passage of a private, special or localĀ  law, pursuant to the provisions of this act, shall be adopted, it shall be theĀ  duty of the chief executive officer of the municipality, or the presidingĀ  officer of the board of chosen freeholders of the county, to cause a petition,Ā  describing the general nature of the private, special or local law sought to beĀ  passed, to be prepared and signed by him and attested by the clerk of theĀ  municipality or of the board of chosen freeholders under the corporate seal ofĀ  the municipality or county, and to cause to be published notice of theĀ  intention to apply for the passage of a bill of the general nature described inĀ  the petition pursuant to the provisions of section 1:6-1 of the RevisedĀ  Statutes at the next session of the Legislature at which such application canĀ  be made after compliance with such provisions, and to cause to be prepared andĀ  introduced in the Legislature at said session a private, special or local bill,Ā  to carry out the purposes of said petition, for the action of the LegislatureĀ  thereon.
