§ 16-16-11 Benefits payable –Survivor's benefits. – (a) The benefits payable to teachers under this chapter shall be those benefitsprovided in chapter 10 of title 36 and as provided in this chapter with andsubject, however, to the conditions and modifications set forth in §§16-16-12 through 16-16-14, and also the benefits provided in subsection (b) ofthis section.

(b) If the teacher member of the retirement system dies,either prior to or after his or her effective date of retirement, any amountscredited to him or her in the teachers' survivors benefit fund, as provided inthis chapter, with regular accumulated interest on the amount, shall be appliedtoward the financing of those benefits for dependents and survivors of themember as defined in this chapter, and in amounts provided in this chapter.
