SECTION 16-2-25

   § 16-2-25  Distribution of powers inProvidence and Cranston. – In the cities of Providence and Cranston the school committee of each cityshall employ the superintendent and teachers, have charge and custody of allschool buildings and school property, manage and regulate the schools, and drawall orders for the payment of their expenses from the money appropriated by thecity council for the support of public schools; provided, that the city councilof each city shall have the expenditure of all sums appropriated for thepurchase of land for school purposes or for the improvement of the land or forthe construction or repair of school buildings.
