SECTION 16-61-1

   § 16-61-1  Definitions. – For the purposes of this chapter, unless indicated by the context, thefollowing words and terms shall have the following meanings:

   (1) "Advisory commission" means the Rhode Island advisorycommission on public telecommunications.

   (2) "Authority" means the Rhode Island publictelecommunications authority.

   (3) "Commission" means the Rhode Island advisory commissionon public telecommunications.

   (4) "Fiscal year" shall coincide with that period utilized bythe state, i.e. from July 1 to the next succeeding June 30.

   (5) "Public broadcasting" includes all aspects ofnoncommercial radio and television, open and closed circuit, including theproduction and dissemination of public and community affairs, civil defense,educational, cultural, and instructional information to the public at largewithin the state.

   (6) "Public broadcasting telecommunications" includes allpublic broadcasting services relating to public broadcasting includingintercommunications, closed circuit instructional television fixed service(ITFS), and other services requiring federal communications commission spectrumallocations for transmission of electrical impulses that specifically andintegrally relate to Rhode Island public broadcasting. Facilities typical forapplication of these services would encompass microwave interconnection, auraland video TV transmission, multiplexing, laser beam utilization, satelliteinterconnection systems, cable systems, and other appropriate technologicaldevices.
