SECTION 17-19-23.1

§ 17-19-23.1 Certification and appointmentof election officials. – (a) All persons who attend and complete a program of instruction for electionofficials under § 17-7-5(a)(6) shall be issued a certificate by the boardof elections. In addition to the compensation to which they are otherwiseentitled, these persons shall also be entitled to receive the sum oftwenty-five dollars ($25.00) upon the performance of their duties on electionday. The certificate shall be valid for a period of one year; provided, thatthe certificate shall be revocable at the discretion of the board of electionsif the board believes that new developments have occurred requiring there-certification of these persons.

(b) Election officials shall, whenever practicable, beappointed from lists of certificated persons.

(c) The board of elections shall have the authority to adoptrules and regulations to carry out the provisions of this section.
