SECTION 22-13-6

   § 22-13-6  Requests for auditing andaccounting services. – (a) Every state department and agency which contemplates securing the servicesof an independent accounting firm to perform an audit of a federal assistancegrant program shall first request the written approval of the auditor general.

   (b) The request to the auditor general shall indicate theperiod of audit, the services to be rendered, the requirement for services(grant provisions, statutory requirements, etc.), the source(s) of funding, andany other pertinent information. The request shall be transmitted in writing tothe auditor general on a form provided for that purpose at least ninety (90)days in advance of any contractual negotiations with independent publicaccountants by any state department or agency.

   (c) Upon receipt of the request, the auditor general shallconduct an analysis of the request to determine the scope and requirements ofthe audit services requested in coordination with the audit responsibilities ofall state audit agencies.

   (d) The auditor general shall notify, in writing, therequesting state department or agency of the results of his or her analysis.
