SECTION 23-17-45

   § 23-17-45  Quality standards for volumerelated tertiary services. – The director is authorized to establish through regulation quality and volumerelated standards to be achieved and maintained for specific tertiary healthcare services offered by individual licensed health care facilities where peerreviewed medical and health literature establishes significant relationshipsbetween desired quality related outcomes and volume of services provided. Thestandards shall include time frames for achieving stipulated volumes ofservices. In developing the standards the director shall seek input fromaffected providers and the public at large. The director may accept inregulation the standards of and the accreditation from recognized nationalaccrediting entities in lieu of standards and assessments otherwise developedpursuant to this section.
