§ 23-18-3 Approval of construction plans– Supervisory control. – Before commencing the building, construction, or erection of any communitymausoleum or columbarium, the agency constructing the structure shall make andfile plans and specifications of the structure with the city or town clerk ofthe city or town where the structure is to be erected, and secure the approvalof the city or town to erect the community mausoleum or columbarium. Before theapproval shall be granted, the city or town wherein the structure is locatedshall satisfy itself that the proposed new structure or any alterations oradditions to an old structure for that purpose, shall be built in accordancewith the standards set forth in ordinances adopted by the city or town whereinthe structure is located under its supervision, and shall comply with anyfurther requirements as to perpetual care and maintenance that shall then be orlater prescribed by the city or town. The city or town wherein the structure islocated shall have supervisory control over the construction of the structureand it shall be the duty of the cities and towns to adopt suitable ordinancesconcerning the structures.
