§ 23-19.1-34 Hazardous waste haulers– Drivers license and certificate required. – No driver shall operate a vehicle hauling hazardous waste as defined in thischapter, unless the driver possesses a valid license of the appropriate classand a hazardous waste driver's certificate issued by the department ofenvironmental management. Applicants for the certificate shall present evidenceto the department of environmental management that they have successfullycompleted the hazardous waste material hauler driver training course developedby the department of environmental management and conducted by the employer,holder of the transporter's permit pursuant to § 23-19.1-10. The courseshall specifically include training in transfer, handling, and spillage ofhazardous waste materials, before a certificate may be issued. Certificatesshall be issued only to applicants qualified by examinations prescribed andconducted by the employer or holders of the transporter's permits. The employeror holder of the transporter's permit shall certify to the director of thedepartment of environmental management that the driver/applicant hassuccessfully completed the course and test.
