SECTION 23-6-2

   § 23-6-2  Spitting in public places. –No person shall spit upon the floor, or upon the sides, or upon any of thefurnishings or equipment of any public conveyance, not devoted exclusively tosmoking, or of any shop, store, hall, church, schoolhouse, railroad station, orother public building, or in the hallways of any private office building orupon the steps or platforms of the conveyance or buildings, or upon thesidewalk of any public highway in this state, except into suitable receptaclesprovided for that purpose. Any person violating any of the provisions of thissection shall be fined not exceeding twenty dollars ($20.00) for each offense.
