SECTION 28-12-17

   § 28-12-17  Payment of substandard wages.– Any employer who pays or agrees to pay wages at a rate less than the rateapplicable under this chapter shall be deemed in violation of this chapter andshall, upon conviction, be fined not less than one hundred dollars ($100) normore than five hundred dollars ($500) or imprisoned for not less than ten (10)days nor more than ninety (90) days, or both, and each week for any portion ofwhich the employer failed to pay any employee less than the rate applicableunder this chapter shall constitute a separate offense as to each employee.
