SECTION 28-16-1

   § 28-16-1  Power of department to assist inenforcement of federal law. – The Rhode Island department of labor and training is empowered to assist andcooperate with the administrator of the wage and hour and public contractsdivision and the director of the bureau of labor standards of the United StatesDepartment of Labor, in the administration and the enforcement within thisstate of the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 U.S.C. § 201et seq. The department is further authorized to accept payment and/orreimbursement for its services as provided by that act. Assistance andcooperation may include the designation by the director of the department oflabor and training of state employees to investigate federal and stateviolations of wage, hour, and child labor provisions and regulations and mayprovide for joint inspection.
