SECTION 28-29-15

   § 28-29-15  Exemption of professionalhockey personnel. – Professional ice hockey players, coaches, and trainers employed by aprofessional ice hockey club, including but not limited to National HockeyLeague or American Hockey League clubs, shall be exempted from the provisionsof chapters 29 – 38 of this title while that employee is temporarilywithin this state doing work for his or her employer. Professional ice hockeyplayers, coaches, and trainers employed by, or on assignment or transfer fromtheir employer, shall be exempted if the employer has furnished workers'compensation insurance coverage under the workers' compensation or similar lawsof the other state so as to cover the employee's employment while in thisstate; provided, that the extraterritorial provisions of chapters 29 – 38of this title are recognized in the other state and provided employers andemployees who are covered in this state are likewise exempted from theapplication of the workers' compensation or similar laws of the other state;provided further that the requirement for recognition in the other state of theextraterritorial provisions of chapters 29 – 38 of this title and therequirement that employers and employees who are covered in this state arelikewise exempted from the application of the workers' compensation or similarlaws of the other state shall not apply to any employees who are professionalice hockey players, coaches, and trainers employed by a professional ice hockeyclub, including, but not limited to National Hockey League or American HockeyLeague clubs described in this section. The benefits under the Workers'Compensation Act or similar laws of the other state shall be the exclusiveremedy against that employer for any injury, whether resulting in death or not,received by any employee while working for that employer in this state.
