§ 31-24-47 Regulation and certification oflighting devices. – (a) The administrator of the division of motor vehicles is authorized toapprove or disapprove lighting devices and to issue and enforce regulationsestablishing standards and specifications for the approval of such lightingdevices, their installation, and aiming. The regulations shall correlate withand, so far as possible, conform to the current standards and specifications ofthe society of automotive engineers applicable to the equipment.
(b) The administrator of the division of motor vehicles isrequired to approve or disapprove any lighting device, of a type on whichapproval is specifically required in this chapter, within a reasonable timeafter the device has been submitted.
(c) The administrator of the division of motor vehicles isauthorized to set up the procedure which shall be followed when any device issubmitted for approval.
(d) The administrator of the division of motor vehicles uponapproving a lamp or device, shall issue to the applicant a certificate ofapproval together with any instructions determined by him or her.
(e) The administrator of the division of motor vehicles shallpublish lists of all lamps and devices by name and type which have beenapproved by him or her.
(f) Violations of this section are subject to finesenumerated in § 31-41.1-4.
