§ 31-3-19 Registration of race cars.– The administrator of the division of motor vehicles is authorized to issue aspecial registration certificate and marker for any motor vehicle constructedto be used for racing, and that must be towed over the public highways to andfrom such places where those vehicles are to be raced; however, these motorvehicles shall be equipped with adequate brakes and a rear light that shows ared light to the rear and also provides a source of white light to illuminatethe rear number plate or marker. The fee for this registration shall be fifteendollars ($15.00), and the registration shall expire March 31st following thedate of issue. The registration plate or marker issued for this motor vehicleshall, in addition to the number assigned, bear a symbol to indicate that thevehicle is to be towed while on the public highways.
