SECTION 31-3-43

   § 31-3-43  Sheriffs' department plates.– The administrator of the division of motor vehicles shall issue to thesheriffs' departments of the various counties, for use on state owned vehiclesused by the departments, a special identifying number plate in numericalsequence preceded by the words "sheriff's department", the plates to be limitedto nine (9) sets, numbered one through and including nine (9).
