SECTION 35-6-32.1

   § 35-6-32.1  Collection of unpaid fines andassessments. – (a) The state court administrator is authorized on behalf of the state to enterinto a written agreement in accordance with the judiciary's purchasing rulesand regulations with one or more qualified collection agencies to attempt tocollect all fees, fines, court costs, assessment charges and/or other monetaryobligations imposed by any state court and/or the traffic tribunal which aredue and owing to the state and which are not the subject of a court-orderedpayment plan in good standing, or are not the subject of an appeal.

   (b) Amounts recovered by a collection agency pursuant to anagreement with the state, shall be remitted to the state court director offinance and deposited in the general fund of the state or as otherwise providedby law; provided, however, a collection agency shall be permitted to retain apercentage of the amounts collected as provided in the agreement with the statecourt administrator.
