SECTION 40-2-2

   § 40-2-2  Support of families of residents.– The director of human services may contribute to the support of the destitutefamily of any adult resident of this state, committed to any one of the stateinstitutions under his or her supervision whenever he or she is satisfied thatthe destitution has resulted from the commitment; provided, the contributionsshall not continue beyond the period of commitment. The general assembly shallannually appropriate such sum as it may deem necessary for the payment ofcontributions, and the state controller shall draw his or her order or ordersupon the general treasurer for the payment of such sum, or so much thereof asmay be necessary for such purpose, upon the receipt by him or her of propervouchers signed by the director.
