SECTION 42-28-31

   § 42-28-31  Expenses of school –Compensation of candidates. – No tuition fee or any other charge shall be assessed against any city or townfor the training of any candidate and the expense of that training shall beborne by the state of Rhode Island. The general assembly shall annuallyappropriate such sum or sums as may be necessary for the proper maintenance ofthe municipal police training school; provided, however, that any compensationto any candidate during the period of his or her training shall be fixed anddetermined by the proper authority within the city or town sponsoring thecandidate and such compensation, if any, shall be paid directly to thecandidate by the city or town of which he or she is a resident.
