SECTION 42-56.1-4

   § 42-56.1-4  Approved course of study.– The object of this chapter is to afford the opportunity to pursue educationalcredits at a post high school level toward an advanced degree in lawenforcement (correctional major). All course work must only be accomplished byeligible personnel during off-duty hours. There is established a committeecomposed of nine (9) members, three (3) of whom shall be appointed by thedirector of the department of corrections from members of his or her staff,three (3) of whom shall be appointed by the president of the union certified asthe bargaining agent of the correctional officers, and three (3) of whom shallbe appointed by the personnel administrator. These appointments shall be madeon or after July 1, 1976, and the members shall serve at the pleasure of theirrespective appointing authorities. It shall be the function of the committee toreview curriculum content and prepare and revise from time to time a list ofapproved courses upon which credit will be given. The recommendations of thecommittee shall be certified by the director of the department of corrections.
