SECTION 42-64.3-3.1

   § 42-64.3-3.1  Enterprise zone council.– (a) There is created within the Rhode Island economic development corporationthe "enterprise zone council," which shall consist of five (5) members to beappointed by the governor; one member shall be the executive director of theRhode Island economic development corporation; one member shall represent theurban league of Rhode Island; one member shall represent the Rhode IslandLeague of Cities and Towns; and two (2) members from the general public. Thegovernor shall designate one member to serve as chairperson of the enterprisezone council.

   (b) The members shall be appointed for terms of five (5)years each; provided, however, of the members originally appointed, one shallbe appointed for a term of one year, one shall be appointed for a term of two(2) years, one shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years, one shall beappointed for a term of four (4) years and one shall be appointed for a term offive (5) years.

   (c) In carrying out its powers and duties under this chapter,the council shall utilize the staffs and resources of the division of statewideplanning and the Rhode Island economic development corporation. Those agenciesand other departments and agencies of state government shall cooperate with thecouncil in carrying out its mandate under this chapter.

   (d) The council shall promulgate rules and regulationsnecessary to implement the intent of this chapter.
