SECTION 42-64-5

   § 42-64-5  Purposes. – The Rhode Island economic development corporation is authorized, created, andestablished as the state's lead agency for economic development throughoutRhode Island for the following purposes:

   (1) To promote and encourage the preservation, expansion, andsound development of new and existing industry, business, commerce,agriculture, tourism, and recreational facilities in the state, which willpromote the economic development of the state and the general welfare of itscitizens; and

   (2) With respect to real property other than federal land orland related to federal land, to undertake any project, except a residentialfacility; and

   (3) With respect to federal land or land related to federalland, to undertake any project, except as those responsibilities are assignedto the Quonset Development Corporation.
