SECTION 42-66.1-6

   § 42-66.1-6  Security personnel andequipment. – (a) All security guards hired shall have a background in security work orsimilar training. All security personnel shall be in uniform while on duty andshall not carry firearms. A security officer shall have the same immunities andmay exercise in and upon the lands and buildings of the institution by whichthe officer is employed, and upon streets and highways immediately adjacent tothose lands, the same powers and authority of a police officer as theimmunities and powers are conferred by the laws of this state upon members ofthe division of state police, including the power to arrest persons forviolation of state criminal statutes or for violation of city or townordinances of the city or town in which the institution is located.

   (b) Security equipment shall include anymechanical/electrical security devices and/or physical improvements to thebuilding that would contribute to the overall security and safety of theelderly housing complex. Funding may be provided for the purchase,installation, and/or maintenance of this security equipment.
