SECTION 42-7.3-4

   § 42-7.3-4  Responsibilities of thedepartment. – The department of public safety is responsible to:

   (a) Improve the economy, efficiency, coordination, andquality of public safety services policy and planning, budgeting and financing,communications and training.

   (b) Increase public confidence by conducting independentreviews of public safety issues in order to promote accountability andcoordination across divisions and agencies.

   (c) Ensure that state public safety policies and programs areresponsive to changing needs to the network of public safety organizations thatdeliver similar services and efforts.
