SECTION 42-8.1-12

   § 42-8.1-12  Violations. – (a) The state archivist shall, whenever he or she finds that any provisions ofthis title have been or are being violated, inform in writing the head of theagency concerned of the violations and make recommendations regarding means ofcorrecting them. Unless corrective measures satisfactory to the archivist areinaugurated within a reasonable time, the archivist shall submit a writtenreport thereon to the governor, and the general assembly.

   (b) The attorney general, on behalf of the state and thedivision of state archives, may replevin any public records which were formerlypart of the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations' records.
