SECTION 44-33.2-1

   § 44-33.2-1  Declaration of purpose. –The general assembly finds and declares that Rhode Island's historic structureshave experienced high vacancy rates and physical deterioration. Without addingeconomic incentive, these structures are not viable for the redevelopment andreuse by modern commercial, residential or manufacturing enterprises and willcontinue their physical deterioration. The redevelopment and reuse of thesehistoric structures are of critical importance to the economic measures andwill assist in stimulating the reuse and redevelopment of historic structuresand will improve property values, foster civic beauty, and promote publiceducation, pleasure, and welfare. The purpose of this chapter is to createeconomic incentives for the purpose of stimulating the redevelopment and reuseof Rhode Island's historic structures.
