SECTION 45-15-6

   § 45-15-6  Town or council meeting to levytax to pay judgment against town. – On judgment being obtained for a debt, damages, or demand, in case thetreasurer does not have sufficient money of the town or city in his or herhands to satisfy and pay the judgment obtained and the charges expended indefending the suit, the treasurer shall make application to any justice of thepeace in the town or city, and the justice shall grant a warrant to the townsergeant, requiring the town sergeant to warn the electors of the town to holda town meeting, at a time and place to be appointed, or to the mayor of thecity requiring the mayor to call a special meeting of the city council of thecity, for the speedy ordering and making a tax, to be collected for thereimbursement of the treasurer.
